A wealth of places to watch Portugese games

Maria at the Portuguese Embassy has come up trumps - lots of places to see Portugal;

There are many Portuguese restaurants and snack bars in South Lambeth Road London SW8 - like;

• Bela Marina
• Grelha d'Ouro

or in Wandsworth Road (walking distance) where you will find;

In Vauxhall you will find

Stoke Newington

Stoke Newingtons finest tapas bar is well equipped for Spanish football - when they occasionally show Premiership games the commentary is in Spanish. Lots of screens and a great atmosphere.

So it might get a bit busy.  That was at the last world cup and was organised by the Korean Embassy and the pub landlord. We're checking to see if its going to happen this time.

Soca Warriors

There seem to be a few options for those who want to watch the Soca Warriors - including all those Scots who are supporting them because they have a player called Jason Scotland (who plays for Scotlands most underrated team St Johnstone). And because they support anyone who is playing England.

A little bit of Paris in Clapham Junction

With French satellite TV this is a great place to watch Les Bleus and see if Thierry can prove he is the best player in the world.

The staff are French, the beer is French and the crowd are French. There was a fantastic atmosphere at the last World Cup - as there is each Sunday night when they show a live French game. Expect regular renditions of La Marseillaise.

Sarf Landan

Stockwell and Vauxhall has a thriving Portuguese community with some good bars to watch the football;

• Vasco De Gama is a mix between and English pub and  a Portuguese bar with a giant screen as well as a  TV. They receive Portuguese satellite TV so expect a Portuguese commentary.

De Hems

A rallying point for the Dutch resistance during the war, De Hems is still the focal point of London's Dutch community. And the love of football is quite clear - the steps up to the function room are painted in Ajax colours - can't remember if you have to do a Cruyff Turn at the top though.

With big screens, a huge range of Dutch beers (Amstel, Oranjeboom, Früli, Grolsch, and three types of Leffe on draft) and some oddly named, but delicious, Dutch bar snacks this is the place to see whether Holland can get their act together, after huge dramas at the last couple of World Cups.

Like clockwork (not)

The St Moritz in Soho (mainly famous for the early Clash gigs in hosted in 1975 and its status as a New Romantic club pre the Blitz) is planning to show the Swiss games, but is waiting to sort a "technical problem" before confirming details.
