Brainstorms can be the most unproductive waste of time - lack of preparation, lack of interest and low blood sugar have killed many of the ones I've been too. Sometime they do come good. But so often any good ideas that are produced never actually happen
I was surprised to come across the latest promotion for Red Bull Racing - as its an idea I had in one of their brainstorms back in Big Picture days. Everyone liked the idea but it was felt that politics (and the logistics) meant it would never happen. But it has!
Basically the idea was to apply the million pixel page concept to a racing car - and instead of corporate logos real race fans could have their face on a Formula 1 car - in return for a donation to charity. You can see the idea here - and if you're quick you can take part.
Its a nice surprise to see this happen , but I think I would have done it a bit differently. Apart from anything else it needs better marketing - its much too low profile. And with only a few days left there are around 18000 spaces left = from a total of 25000 originally.
Some of the original ideas we had involved people who entered having a chance to win a trip to Silverstone to see the car and find their picture on it - that type of thing would drive more profile and more entries.
Still its good to see a good idea didn't die in a brainstorm.

Great idea. Thanks for telling us about it. As you say, I'd no idea this existed.
There's another problem with the site though: it's a nightmare to use. The incentive is slight, spur-of-the-moment stuff and the intellectual challenge of working through the flash is just ... too ... much.
