ITVTs' excellent newsletter reports that the BBC has commissioned a mega PVR - one with a 3.2 terabyte capacity, that will enable a user to store every one of a weeks programmes, on every channel on Freeview!
A BBC spokesperson told ITVT;
"Pandora forms part of the BBC's ongoing research into the future of broadcasting," the spokesperson told us by email. "It is designed to help us look at how audiences will find BBC content in a future world of powerful storage devices. To this end the BBC has invested in a single prototype, which is based on pre-existing technology and which includes a 3.2 terabyte memory, capable of storing a week's worth of TV programs. I have to stress that the prototype is for research purposes only, and there are no current plans to put this hardware into production."
Well, we all know the story about Pandora don't we? Big capacity PVRs are the future; Dawn Airey talked about it at MIP and we expect to see them in market soon - although we might have to wait a while for a 3.2 terabyte version.

Sounds interesting.
